The state which is the richest and most progressive in the country has nine administrative districts: Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

The three main ethnic groups in Selangor are Malays, Chinese and Indians. There are also tribesmen such as the Semai, Temiar, Temuan, Kanaq and Mah Meri living on the outskirts.

One of the major attractions in Selangor is the State Mosque in Shah Alam which has four minarets reaching 150m from the ground.

Other notable tourist spots are the Paya Indah Wetlands Sanctuary, Kuala Selangor Nature Park, Batu Caves, Zoo Negara, Pulau Ketam and the Bukit Sri Cahaya Agriculture Park.
World class facilities

Selangor is also noted for its world-class sports facilities such as the Sepang International Circuit, Shah Alam Stadium, Malawati Indoor Stadium and golf courses such as Mines and Kota Permai.

Selangor is also a shopper�s paradise with numerous shopping centres such as Sunway Pyramid, One Utama and Mines Shopping Fair.

Its highly diversified economy ranges from agriculture, industry, commerce and tourism. The Rice Bowl of Selangor lies in Sekinchan. The main crop grown in the state is oil palm.
