Johor has thirty golf clubs. There are clubs in every district except Mersing. Johor Bahru itself has thirteen clubs. The clubs are easily accessible and courses offer challenges for everyone from the lowest handicapper to the casual player or the professional.

One has even been ranked as one of the world's top 50 golf resorts.

Nearly 90 percent of golf memberships in Johor are Singaporeans. Apart from its sports' attraction, the state also offers attractive avenues to encourage them to spend here with their families.

If you enjoy or prefer golfing in the cool evening under the moon and stars then you can opt for night golfing at selected courses.

Some clubhouses feature many cosy dining areas, outdoor pools, perfect for weddings, tournaments and corporate meetings. Players can play and enjoy the serenity and stay in luxurious accommodations.

The quality of golf courses and excellent services rendered to tourists are main reasons why Johor remains a favourite destination.

The islands on the eastern coast of Johor are nature's treasure. Their sun-drenched golden beaches, inviting turquoise water teeming with marine life beckons visitors. Over twenty of the islands are protected and designated marine parks where one can come in close contact with nature. There are picturesque fishing villages in some islands and lush green vegetation. Way from the urban bustle, the islands offer a wide range of accommodations.

There are three clusters of islands. The northern cluster comprises of Harimau, Mensisip, Gual, Rawa, Hujong, Tengah and Besar islands. Pulau Harimau, Pulau Mensisip and Pulau Gual are well known for scuba diving and snorkelling.
One can enjoy the idyllic sandy beaches of Pulau Rawa and also explore the infinite marine world of the archipelago. Pulau Hujong was the locale for the filming of the Survivor programme. Settle down in Pulau Tengah for sun bathing or splashing in the shimmering azure water while sipping on a cold drink, the haunt for lovers and for the family to be together.

The bigger island as the name implies, Pulau Besar (big), is the nearest from the Mersing staging point. It is a very popular destination. It's long stretch of golden coast line has a picturesque Malay village which is a paradise to relax at, stroll leisurely or be caressed by the sea breeze laden with salty smell of the sea. There are several resorts offering fishing packages, water activities and they come with a wide spectrum of amenities.

The Sibu group of islands make up the southern cluster, this include Tinggi, Apil, Mentigi, Sibu Besar, Sibu Tengah, Sibu Kukus and Sibu Hujong islands.

Whatever the purpose for heading to the beach, Johor has a string of 17 beaches. Two of them is located in the middle of Johor Bahru city. To the northwest in the districts of Pontian and Batu Pahat are two other beaches. The premier beaches are found in the eastern shoreline of Johor in the districts of Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

But the most popular resort destinations in Johor especially during school holidays is Desaru. The state's beautiful sandy beaches are the main attraction for families. Resorts and chalets in Desaru offer accommodations at affordable prices. Desaru is also a favourite destination among Singaporeans for recreation or for a game of golf. The Rengit River is famous for its seafood.
